Recycling Broken Crayons Into Fun New Shapes

Don't throw away short or broken crayons. Set them aside and turn them into new and fun shapes. Mix and match different colors to make a new and exciting colors.  Experiment with different molds to make an entirely new crayon and just have fun.

Here are some simple steps to get you started...




Materials:



Broken and short crayons
Cooking Oil
Brush
Rubber Molds
Stove
Tin can, Aluminum container, or frying pan
Oven Mitts



Procedure:



1.  Collect short and broken crayons for melting.  Make sure to remove the paper labels before melting.

2.  Brush a little bit of cooking oil on the molding tray to avoid the crayons from sticking and to easily remove the crayons from the mold. Rubber molds are also better to use as you can turn them inside out to easily remove the crayons and minimize breaking.




3.  Place the crayons inside your container and place it on top of the stove for melting.  Mix and
match colors to produce different effects.







4.  Using your oven mitts, gently pour the melted crayons into the mold.  Set aside to cool. You could also put them inside a refrigerator for 30 minutes to harden the crayons.  Try using different molds to produce crayons of different shapes.



5.  Congratulations your done...
