Popsicle Sticks Christmas Lantern

Create your own Christmas Decor from Popsicle sticks and ordinary house hold materials.


Materials Needed:

Popsicle Sticks
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Tissue Paper Rolls (3 pcs.)
Colored Papers
Foam Letters
Old News Papers
Rattan String
Glue
Pencil

Procedures:

1. Decide a shape for your lantern. It could be a square, a triangle or any other shape you would desire. For this example, I used a hexagon as the shape of my lantern.

2. Make the other frame of your lantern using the Popsicle sticks. Form a hexagon by connecting the Popsicle sticks together using your glue gun and glue stick. Make 2 sets (1 for the front and 1 for the back).

3. Connect the frames by sticking the 2 frames together using your glue gun and glue stick. Do this until you have covered all the edges of your frames with Popsicle sticks.

4. Now the that you have finished your Popsicle Stick Christmas Lantern, you may decorate the inside with any design you like. You can use small figures to recreate the nativity scene, put small gifts, a Snowman, or even Santa on his sleigh. For this example, I used Christmas Candles and leaves.

5. Cover the tissue paper rolls with red colored paper.

6. For effect you could cover the edges of the covered tissue paper rolls with a piece of rattan string.

7. Stuff the insides of the tissue paper rolls with old news paper to make them heavier. Attach a piece of rattan string on the top to make it look like a wick.

8. Using Green Colored paper, draw & cut-out leaves.

9. Using your glue stick position the cut-out leaves on the inside of your Popsicle Stick Lantern. Position your Tissue Paper Roll candles on top of your cut-out leaves and secure them in place with your glue gun and glue stick.

10. On the outside of your Popsicle Stick lantern you can form Christmas messages or personal greetings using your foam letters. Secure them on your Popsicle Stick Lantern using your Glue Gun and Glue stick.

11. Congratulations your done. You can now display your Popsicle Stick Lantern by putting it on top of a table or tie a piece of Rattan String so you could hang your Popsicle Stick Lantern.
